About Me

Hi I am Camila Oliveira,

I’m a creative person with a lot of hobbies. I like to do sports, and it’s very important to me to enjoy life in the best way. I’m proudly Brazilian, living in Barcelona, learning the best aspects of Catalan culture and recognizing the things that I miss in Brazil that make my country unique.

I graduated as a physics engineer, and I’m completely in love with science and astrophysics. I know that it’s a very rare course to choose, but I had the opportunity to learn a lot about math, physics, and the fundamental concepts that are the basis of the most technological things going on today.

The most impressive thing that I’ve done in these 6 years since graduation was my thesis with one of the study groups of the Bingo Telescope. With them, I learned how to separate stars from active galaxies, and I wrote a thesis named “star data analysis andidentification of distinct objects by t-SNE”

Right now, I work as a Data Engineer, and I can say that I had the luck of finishing my graduation at the right moment when the world is experiencing a revolution carried by data. As humanity, we are experiencing a huge development of predictions based on data, and that could impact everything from car traffic and advertising to medicine and healthcare. It’s huge, and I’m glad to be living and working through this change.

I’m glad to be writing and communicating with you.

Enjoy the content.

Physics Engineer Student, Universidade de São Paulo

2016 — 2021

Physical Engineering is a course with a strong theoretical foundation in physics, mathematics, and chemistry, complemented by topics such as quantum mechanics, materials science, Computational Methods in Physics, electronics, and microprocessors, among others, which allows the course to cover the main relevant topics for the current scientific-technological field. In addition to fulfilling the course syllabus, I also did 1 year of scientific initiation, 2 years of community extension project, participated in the construction of a Formula SAE car, and for 1 year, I was part of the Bingo Telescope study group and wrote my final course thesis entitled "star data analysis and identification of distinct objects by t-SNE".

Data Engineer, Shopper, Brazil

2021 — 2022

As my first professional experience as a Data Engineer, I worked together with the Data Scientist to consolidate a prediction model in the AWS cloud. I wrote two pipelines, one in batch and one in real-time, using the Apache Beam SDK for Python to transform, group, and load data. I helped to design the data extraction process using Pentaho to create a new data warehouse for a key sector of the company.

Data Engineer, Civica, Spain

2022 — current

In Civica, my professional highlight was starting to perform processes with ELT logic, using AWS to automate the entire extraction and loading process, Snowflake for data storage, and DBT as a data transformation tool.
